TOLULOPE Gbadegeshin, a Banker, has advised youths in the country to be self reliant as a diligent way out of self-depression.
She gave the advice on Wednesday in Lagos while speaking as a resource person during a two-day empowerment workshop organised by a business development company, Taproot Multi Dynamic Concept for graduate youths in Lagos state
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports the workshop dwelt on information technology, beads making, hair dressing and online trading aimed at assisting youths finding their bearing in life.
The banker said that her advice became necessary because the country education curriculum lacked entrepreneurial skills.
Gbadegeshin, also a network marketer, said that the security crisis in the country could be linked to too many educated but idle youths that woke up every day without work to do.
She noted that:“Taproot Multi Dynamic Concept since its inception in April 2018 has been educating and empowering youths to be self-reliant.
“The prevalence of social crisis in the country today cannot be far from the idleness of the teeming population of able youths.
“The concept behind the programme is to bridge the social-economic gap that will spur economic growth while attracting foreign investment.
“We have testimonies of participants doing well in businesses with links to soft loans and grant agencies provided immediately after the training to avoid time lag,’’ Gbadegeshin said.
Mr Taiwo Kazeem, a participant, appealed to the organisers of the workshop to widen their publicity to enable other youths benefit from the programme, saying that he knew about the training through the social media.
He said the training was impactful and empirical such that if given the needed attention, would rebrand youths and create leeway for small scale businesses in the country.
NAN reports that the Lagos session, with more than 50 participants in attendance, was the 5th in the series of such workshop after similar exercise was organised in Rivers, Plateau, Kaduna and Niger.
