Dr James Dalok, running mate to Sen. Jerry Useni, PDP Governorship candidate in Plateau, has urged Christians and Muslims to unite, saying that such unity was crucial to prosperity in the state.
Dalok made the call in Mangun village in Mangu Local Government, at the launch of a N3.5 million Education Appeal Fund by the Jama’atul Izalatul Bid’ah Wah Sunnah, a Muslim group.
“In any society where peace is lacking, development is replaced with sorrow, hunger and suffering.
“We should not allow such misery to befall us in Plateau, especially in Mangu Local Government, which is known for peaceful coexistence, irrespective of religious differences.
“I am proud of how Muslims and Christians have been coexisting here; I hope we shall continue this way no matter the provocation,” he stated.
The running mate, who was the Chief Launcher of the fund, said that PDP was out to promote peace.
“The PDP plans to pay special attention to peace, that is why we presented our ticket to a retired army General, who is an expert in security matters,” he said.
Also speaking, Mr Haruna Yilson, spokesman of the group, thanked Dalok for donating to the fund, and promised that Muslims and Christians would continue to live peacefully with one another.
