By Godwin Okeh, Abakaliki                The Chief Medical Director of the Federal Teaching Hospital, Abakaliki in Ebonyi state, Dr. Emeka Onwe Ogah has denied allegations linking him with financial impropriety and other shoddy deals in the hospital.

Ogah, in a press statement frowned at a report published by an online media {Not Prompt News Online}, alleging maladministration and diversion of monies to private pockets by few management staff of the hospital.

He said that a hospital that has a Board and Management cannot be accused of having just two persons who would turn the hospital into their private establishment where monies are turned into pockets.

According to him: “On the allegation of maladministration, Onwe in his 4th year in office has attracted many good things to the hospital. One being the establishment of Lassa Fever Centre built and equipped by the State government and donated to the Federal Ministry of Health. Ministry of Health never provided any dialysis machine as alleged by the report”.

The hospital boss added that award of contracts and the supply of drugs in the hospital were done following due process, stressing “on salaries, every sane person knows that salaries are paid from Abuja through the Integrated Personnel Payroll System (IPPIS)”.

He added: “the hospital has no business in giving and collection of salaries of any staff. It therefore behoves that since we do not pay anybody salary for many years now from the hospital, there should be no need at all of mentioning salary padding “.

Ogah explained that the question of the Director of Finance in the hospital, Sylvanus Ugamah owning buses was a matter that came up over 5 years ago when Peace Mass transit bought buses with the inscription “Ugamah”.
