Baring last minute change of mind, the Presidency is set to name an Assistant Inspector General of Police, AIG Ibrahim K. Idris as the new Police Chief.
Prompt News Online gathered that President Muhammadu Buhari, picked AIG Idris from the list of three nominees forwarded to him.
This follows the retirement of the outgoing Police Chief, Solomon Arase, who was appointed by former President Goodluck Jonathan in April 2015.
Arase was born in June 21, 1956 and thus, clocks 60 years today, Tuesday, June 21, 2016 and due for retirement.
AIG Idris, who will be appointed in acting capacity pending confirmation is at the Force Headquarters.
He was appointed AIG in August, 2015, and moved to Force Headquarters from Nasarawa state where he was Commissioner of Police.
